Industries

Large components, true scale.

The 2000 × 1000 × 1000 mm build volume of the BPT 2010 allows components to be produced at full scale instead of scaled-down models, and as a single body instead of bonded segments. Typical uses in six industries are outlined below.

Robotic automotive body line

Automotive

From prototype to assembly line

Bumpers, panels and body components can be printed at full scale so that a design is validated on the vehicle. Fixtures and inspection jigs for the assembly line are produced without waiting for tooling.

Typical parts
Bumper prototype, inspection fixture, assembly jig, functional test part
Key feature
2000 mm X axis; durable engineering materials such as PA and PC

Aerospace and defence

Manufacturing in high-performance polymers

Engineering polymers such as PEEK, PEKK, PPSU and ULTEM require a controlled thermal environment. The chamber heated up to 170 °C and the PEEK-coated bed reaching 180 °C are designed for processing these materials.

Typical parts
Air duct and cover parts, composite tooling bodies, test specimens
Key feature
170 °C chamber, multi-point temperature control, dual-material printing
Boat hull resting on a cradle

Marine and yachting

Large-scale models and custom parts

Hull models, interior fittings and one-off custom equipment can be produced without production tooling. This is an economical method for projects where part quantities are low and dimensions are large.

Typical parts
Hull and deck model, interior fitting, lamination mould
Key feature
Large build volume; weather-resistant materials such as ASA
Clay car model

Moulds and patterns

Moulds and patterns directly from digital data

Casting patterns, thermoforming moulds and master parts are produced directly from digital data. Design revisions are implemented quickly with a new print.

Typical parts
Sand-casting pattern, thermoforming mould, master part, production aids
Key feature
1 µm resolution; dimensional consistency on large parts
Industrial production facility

Industrial production

Components on demand

Spare parts, workholding fixtures and custom machine components are manufactured without holding up the production line. A digital part archive can replace physical stock.

Typical parts
Spare part, workholding fixture, machine guard, conveyor guide
Key feature
Dual-channel safety relay and live production display
Engineer working with a tablet in a laboratory

R&D

Validate designs at full scale

Offers rapid prototyping for university laboratories and R&D centres. Ergonomic, assembly and functional tests can be carried out at actual size instead of on scaled-down models.

Typical parts
Concept model, functional test part, ergonomic mock-up
Key feature
Wide material range; role-based user access
